Organic Olive Oil Masía la Mota
Masía la Mota Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil
At Masía la Mota, we produce premium extra virgin olive oil from our own century-old trees located on the slopes of the Font Roja Natural Park. We do not use any pesticides or products that could harm the environment.
It is a fabulous property with beautiful views, also home to our renowned Boutique Hotel Masía la Mota, which is also specialised in special events in its Almazara hall and in oleotourism experiences for both groups and companies.
Tradition
Our olives are hand-picked using traditional methods, just as they have been since ancient times. However, for cold extraction we use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure maximum quality, resulting in a product harvested and crafted with the care this precious liquid gold deserves, capable of delighting the most refined palates. History records that even the Romans carried oil from our mountains to the capital of the empire.
From the Alfafarenca variety, native to the Alicante mountains, its largest area of cultivation is found around the Sierra de Mariola, extending from Alfafara to Beneixama, at an altitude of about 700 metres above sea level with a typically Mediterranean climate. And this is the secret behind the quality and unique flavour of Alfafarenca oil: the combination of the lingering sea breeze, the altitude, and the ambient temperature where our Alfafarenca olives are grown.
Variety
Recent research from the Polytechnic University of Valencia shows that this variety was brought to these lands by the Phoenicians from the mountains of Lebanon around 2,500 years ago. Those mountains share almost identical climatic conditions with ours, where there exists a native variety perfectly adapted and genetically identical to the Alfafarenca. This olive variety ripens late, being harvested between late November and January.
It produces an intense, aromatic oil with a bitter green fruitiness and a characteristic spicy note, due to its high content of polyphenols, the compounds that give olive oil its antioxidant properties. With an oleic acid percentage of 80%, it is among the most heart-healthy varieties, protecting the arteries.
Farmers in this area have always valued this oil for its resistance to rancidity, again thanks to its high polyphenol content, making it ideal for preserving foods (cured meats, cheeses…), a highly important practice in the past.
We are proud to present this project to you, prepared with such enthusiasm and care.
