This trilogy begins with the eve of the Cabalgata, known locally as the day of La Burreta (4 January). At around seven o’clock in the evening, the Royal Ambassador makes his entrance and announces the imminent arrival of their Majesties with his proclamation. The royal party parades through the streets full of illusion together with a procession of donkeys laden with saddlebags where the children deposit their letters addressed to the three wise men. The children’s excitement intensifies during this event prior to the royal visit. In addition, at the end, the arrival of the royal retinue to the mountains of Alcoy can be observed by the torches that accompany their retinue.

All this as a prelude to the most magical day of the year, the Three Wise Men’s Parade (5 January).
