This region shares two natural parks<\/strong> of great beauty: the Carrascal de la Font Roja<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, a natural sanctuary full of pine trees and suggestive paths, and the Sierra de Mariola<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, which is home to one of the most important yew forests in Europe. Its lands are dotted with natural landscapes linked to very different elements that increase its attraction: snow wells, paper mills, an old reservoir, a valley dedicated to the magic of making toys or small white villages with brown tiles and erect bell towers such as Pen\u00e1guila or Benifallim.<\/p>\n

In addition to its nature, there is an urban landscape that competes in beauty. Alcoy<\/strong>, an industrial city<\/a><\/span> nestled between mountains, hides a gift. It belongs to the European Route of Modernism<\/strong>. Some of the buildings are iconic in this architectural style.<\/p>\n

The Font Roja Natural Park<\/strong> is a crossroads of ecosystems. There are areas of pine and holm oak and others of ash or yew. Ivy in wet areas and thyme or pebrella in dry areas. This makes it a perfect place to practice mountain sports<\/strong> such as hiking<\/strong>, cycling<\/strong>, horse riding<\/strong> and Nordic walking<\/strong>. (More info<\/a><\/span>)<\/p>\n

Alcoy<\/strong> treasures two modernist jewels linked to the economic boom of the municipality at the beginning of the 20th century. One of them is the C\u00edrculo Industrial building. The fa\u00e7ade and interior space exude modernism in every detail. Of similar beauty is the Casa del Pavo. It was the studio of the 19th century Alcoy painter Fernando Cabrera. But there are more examples of the passage of modernism through the city. You only have to walk through it to find out.<\/p>\n

The Moors and Christians of Alcoy<\/strong>, of International Tourist Interest, are celebrated every April. The rest of the year, the Museo Alcoyano de la Festa immerses you in the history of these traditional festivities (see more info<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

You can’t leave without trying the local gastronomy<\/strong>: the gazpachos of Castalla, the Olleta de Blat or Music<\/strong>, the Pericana Alcoyana<\/strong> or the peladillas de Alcoy<\/strong>.
